During the mid 20th century Sevres produced a number of ranges of interesting art glass which is now starting to be picked up by collectors having been somewhat ignored until recently. This example is from their opalescent range, made of the same type of glass made famous by Lalique and Sabino in the Art Deco period, but given a white tint making it less translucent. Under normal lighting it has a white look with blue hints as seen in the images. When strongly lit, especially from behind you get yellow and orange tones which striate through the glass giving a very interesting display. So with careful display location using the sun as a backlight it will change how it looks throughout the day. The shape of this example is like a classical Grecian urn with one handle making look an a newer and it has been hand blown.

The pontil scar has been ground and polished out to the base and there is a Sevres France acid stamp to the underside. Some scratches to the underside of the foot as expected. Height: 25.5 cm (10 inch) Width: 12.5 cm (5 inch).
