LEGRAS French Cameo Art Glass 6.75 Vase, c. 1910-1920
Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely Legras French Cameo Art Glass vase, c. The vase has burnished peach leaves and purple berries on a peachy-orange background that shades to a greenish-white mottled coloration at the bottom. The berry and foliage decoration is polished and stands out from the acid textured background. The vase has a square top and is round at the base.
Looking into the interior of the vase, the base has an "end of day" coloration. Vase is signed with a cameo signature "Legras" just above the base. Measures 6 3/4" high with a 4" square top and 3 3/4 diameter base. This nice vase is in very good Estate condition although it does have a couple of issues to mention.
There is one very small chip on the rounded rim at the top of the vase, a color skip in an oval spot on the side of the vase and a pale streak that runs perpendicular through the background of the vase with both of these issues being factory flaws. There is also an unusual flaw to mention on the bottom of the vase. There is a large circular spot where the glass is thin and the mottled interior coloration of the vase is exposed. This appears to also be "as made" although I have never seen anything quite like this. Please view all photos as part of the description. The exterior of the vase is very striking and the factory issues do not detract from the beauty of this vase. The rich coloration and design elements make this vase a great display item.
