Welcome To The Antique Cabinet. This tall cylindrical crystal vase is truly a piece of art executed in multiple techniques including cut, engraved, acid etching and finished with fine gold gilt highlighting.

The scene cut into the crystal depicts two. Knights on horseback, the Duke of Bourbon facing the Duke of Bretagne - taken from the "Livre des tournois" by René d'Anjou, which the illustrations are attributed to Barthélemy D'Eyck, dating from the 1460's. It further enhanced with cut clovers and finely detailed coats of arms & scrolling designs. Upon extensive research, we were able to find only a few pieces of this rare glass. A smaller example of this vase can be referenced in the "Giuseppe Cappa, Le Génie Verrier de l'Europe" glass book no.

295 as seen in pic 14. Picture 15 is an illustration the design is based upon. It measures a monumental 16" tall by 6" wide.

And is in excellent antique collection, free of any chips, cracks or repairs with commensurate age-related wear mainly to gold gilt. - - - - -.
