The glass production was interrupted by the 30-Year War. In 1767, Louis XV of France declared it the Verrerie Royale de Saint-Louis.
In 1781, the factory manager, Monsieur Beaufort, discovered the secrets of crystal-making. Saint-Louis crystal is mouthblown, hand-cut, hand-engraved, and hand-decorated.
The crystal is made with 24-carat gold or platinum. Saint-Louis is part of Hermès International S. Saint-Louis produces tableware, decoration items, and lighting. Saint-Louis continues to explore new uses for crystal and renew its identity.
Saint-Louis reissues heritage pieces, such as vases designed and crafted from 1940 to 1950.
