This bowl is made from a combination of deep red (burgundy or maroon), white, and clear glass. The rim is crimped and ruffled.
Floral and vine decoration in hand-painted enamels with gold paint is present on the exterior. This piece stands approximately 3 inches tall, and it is about 9 3/4 inches long and 9 1/2 inches wide. It has a nice weight, without feeling too heavy.Unpacked, the bowl weighs 2 pounds 4.8 ounces. The base has a central, ground pontil area. This lovely piece would be an excellent addition to a collection of European art glass. Identification This high quality French art glass bowl is unmarked. It is attributed to Mont Joye.
It is antique, likely circa late 19th or early 20th century. The exact age is not known.
Condition The bowl looks good overall, with no cracks. There are a few faint water spots which I have not tried to remove. There is some wear from use over the decades. It has scattered, fine scratches and scuffs to the interior and to the exterior sides.
There are more substantial wear scratches beneath, as expected for old glass. To the bottom, there are some areas of tiny pits/flakes/abrasions of unknown origin (see Photo 9 which shows the most pronounced area). As made, there are a few tiny white inclusions in the glass. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made. And international government regulations prohibit such behavior.
