CONDITION: Wear to gilding on rim. This opaline glass vase was produced in France in the 19th century. It is possible that it was made by Baccarat. It has an artist's signature, J. It is 8 1/8 inches tall, 7 1/2 wide and 5 1/2 inches deep.
The glass is hand blown, having substantial thickness. It is hand painted with a scene of a young woman reaching out to a blue bird.
The background is painted with details of plants and bushes. The back of the vase has a scene with a garden wall. The neck and shoulders of the vase are intricately painted and gilded with raised gold. It is a lovely Victorian piece. The Post Office requires this.
