Antique French Glass Perfume Bottle Gilded Glass Scent Bottle Baccarat

Beautiful French clear glass perfume bottle/vanity bottle with a gilded design of leaves all the way around. The bottle is an oval shape consisting of eight rounded panels and has a matching stopper with a flat circular glass finial. The underside of the bottle has a concave ground and polished pontil which has the number three in red enamel to the centre. The stopper has a corresponding number three acid etched into the base (I have tried my best to capture this in my photographs).

Below quote taken from a perfume bottle collectors website. Old glass bottles might have etched matching numbers on the base of the perfume bottle and on the bottom of the stopper.

This was done at the factory when the stopper would have been ground to fit the bottle, the numbers are to show which bottle goes with the right stopper. These were usually found on French bottles such as Baccarat. The bottle is in good condition however as can be seen in my pictures, the stopper does have some fleabites to the bottom and some surface wear to underside which is a good indicator of antiquity.
