Here is an "Amiens" vase by René Lalique produced only between 1929 and 1937, never afterwards. Normally a diamond-shape glass vase with handles consisting of 4 volutes on each side (photo 7), 18 cm (7.2) tall and 14 cm (5.6) wide. It is signed on the bottom (photo 6).

R LALIQUE FRANCE on the two sides photographed (R LALIQUE on one side, FRANCE on the other), even though it is not easy to see on the photo (please magnify). This vase has been substantially damaged earlier and very well repaired, giving it a different look: One of the bottom volutes on one side must have been broken and the vase was repaired by removing both bottom volutes and linking those immediately above to the remaining tops of the missing ones (compare photos 1 and 7 to understand what was done).

The vase is no less beautiful, if anything less bulky. The repair, I repeat (probably done decades ago) has been extremely well done. The dimensions are the original ones, 18cm x 14.

The result does not in any way make the vase appear to be broken. "Amiens" is repertoried and photographed in the large book by Felix Marcilhac, the "unofficial" Lalique Bible, on page 443 of the French 2010 edition (photo 7) under reference 1023. No modern re-issues were subsequently made. Beyond the redesigned handles, the condition of the vase is good. No major scuff , no chips, no missings inside, there are small internal fractures (stable and not threatening to break) inside the top volutes of the handles (top pair of volutes).

This is of course a damaged and repaired vase. With the René Lalique signature and the modifications, it will give its owner the guarantee of holding a unique piece. Because firstly of the alterations and damage which have been described accurately, secondly of the extremely discounted price, the vase is being offered "As Is".
